Exploration & Production

Eni’s presence in Qatar dates back to the second half of the 1960s, when it acquired a 20% stake in an offshore licence that included the gas and condensates field known as the North Dome Gas field, subsequently bought by the Qatar General Petroleum Company (QGPC). Later, in the 1990s, Eni joined Elf (now Total) in the development of offshore blocks 1 and 6 (in particular the Alkalij field in production since 1997). Eni then sold its 45% stake to Total in 2002. From 2017, Eni and QP have started a relationship to identify joint investment opportunities in both international upstream projects and development projects in Qatar, across the entire value chain. In November 2017 Eni transferred to QP, through a Farm-out agreement, 30% of its stake in Block 52 in Oman.
