In November 2017, the Government of the Sultanate of Oman, the state company OOCEP and Eni, entered into an Exploration and Production Sharing Agreement (EPSA) for Block 52, located offshore Oman. At the same time, Eni and Qatar Petroleum signed an agreement to assign a share of the block. The operation is subject to approval by the competent authorities of the country. Following the agreements, Eni will be operator of the area with a 55% stake.
Block 52 is an underexplored area with hydrocarbons potential located offshore in the southern region of Oman. Block 52 has an area of approximately 90,000 Km2, with water depths ranging from 10 to over 3,000 meters. The signing of the Block 52 EPSA represents an important milestone in Eni’s strategy to reinforce its presence in the Middle East region.
