Responsabilità Amministrativa - Modello 231

Legislative Decree No. 231 of 8 June 2001 introduced into Italian law the discipline of administrative liability. On the basis of rules and regulations, companies can be held responsible, and consequently subject to fines, for certain offences, committed or attempted, in the interests or to the advantage of the company by directors or employees. Tecnomare was founded in 1971 as “for the development of marine technologies” under the Law of 10 October 1968 which established the Fondo Ricerca Applicata (Applied Research Fund) managed by IMI (Istituto Mobiliare Italiano) with the aim of supporting:
  • research activities to acquire new operational techniques for exploration and use, for economic, industrial and scientific purposes, of the waters, seabed and subsea
  • the economic and industrial exploitation of the results obtained, directly or indirectly as a result of the completion of the assigned activities

Such activities are developed in line with applied research projects, conceived as preparatory to possible future projects. Over the years Tecnomare has evolved by responding to new market challenges, by extending its presence to Egypt and Kazakhstan. The gradual change in the composition of shareholders demonstrates the vitality of a company always in the vanguard.
Since 2007 Tecnomare has developed and implemented a new strategy through a process of continuous improvement in every area of the company and investments in the development of cutting-edge engineering skills. Eni SpA, which in 1971 owned 25% of the shares, over time has increased its stake and, in 2008, became the sole owner of the company. Today Tecnomare’s activities extend into two business areas (Petroleum Development and Innovative Technologies) and the technical area.

Petroleum Development Projects

Engineering projects for oil and gas developments are related to feasibility studies, basic and FEED engineering, detailed engineering, construction supervision, marine operations and plant start-up. The “life cycle” approach used by Tecnomare in engineering projects for new development makes it possible to pursue the objective of optimising the investments of the oil company through the identification and development of solutions that maximise economic return, even in unconventional and challenging. Tecnomare is also able to provide project management services, assisting of the oil company in the management of executive contracts. It can also provide the turnkey supply of systems and components, covering the construction and installation stages in collaboration with selected and qualified international companies. To ensure uniformity of implementation and due consideration of geographical specificities, the project area is structured with on a geographical basis in two main macro projects areas:
  • North Africa, Central Asia, Russia and Australasia
  • Europe, the Americas and sub-Saharan Africa.

The two structures make use of centralized services for planning, documentation management, the monitoring and control of activities, aimed at ensuring that lead times, cost and the quality of services provided are fully compliant with contractual requirements and that the end-customer satisfaction is guaranteed. The experience and skill of Tecnomare in managing large-scale projects is widely recognised and attested by the many production facilities and oil platforms realised with Tecnomare engineering in over 40 years.

Innovative Technology Projects

Tecnomare is committed to the consolidation and enhancement of skills in innovative technologies in the field of exploration, production and transportation of oil and natural gas, and is fully involved in the selection of the knowledge and technologies required by Eni E&P for the exploitation of oil resources.
The company has been involved for many years in the development of systems in application areas such as space exploration and environmental scientific monitoring in deep waters, characterised by extreme environmental conditions. This experience has contributed to the continuous updating of technical knowledge and the creation of transfer opportunities for technologies and design approaches in Oil & Gas applications. Tecnomare contributes to the challenges facing the oil industry with the use of innovative technologies to improve the safety, cost-effectiveness and “time to market” of the activities for the exploration and development of mineral deposits, with capabilities in the conceptual study phase, and the design, construction and integration of systems, in the following areas:
  • HSE (technologies for monitoring of meteorological and oceanographic, environmental, geophysical, geochemical, structural parameters)
  • Exploration (applications in deep water)
  • Drilling (safety systems, monitoring and deep water drilling)
  • Engineering (validation of new technologies applicable in the field, ultra deep-water, innovative Xtree completion systems)
  • Production (asset integrity)

Technical area

The engineering area develops and provides complex solutions for the oil and gas industry and, in particular, for upstream hydrocarbon production plants. The company’s expertise ranges from the design of onshore and offshore plant, sub-sea developments and floating production systems, subsea/terrestrial pipelines and docking and loading points. Particular emphasis is given to offshore engineering, where Tecnomare has developed over 40 years’ experience in structural/marine disciplines and plant design that has installed platforms and floating production systems in the Mediterranean, the North Sea, Africa, South America, the Persian Gulf, Australia, etc. Tecnomare is widely recognised for its excellence in the provision of engineering services for the oil industry because of its broad spectrum of skills that include both the design of new plant and the revamping/upgrading of existing plant, as well as the optimisation of production processes, assistance and support for construction and installation, and certification by international certifying authorities. In addition, through its foreign offices, the company has developed expertise in obtaining approval from local authorities, for engineering construction packages. By exploiting the most advanced simulation and design tools/software and continuously updating skills, Tecnomare is able to carry out all stages of design: feasibility studies and the selection of development scenarios, basic and FEED engineering, up to support during the executive phases and start-up. In synergy with the company, it carries out studies and develops innovative applications in the Oil & Gas sector. Typical examples are sub-sea applications, water treatment and energy management/optimisation.
The design area is made up of technicians in the following area:
  • Process
  • Mechanical
  • Rotating machines
  • Instrumentation, telecommunications and control
  • Electrical
  • Piping and layout
  • Structures
  • Civil
  • Naval
  • Marine operations
  • Sub-sea systems
  • Sub-sea control

Tecnomare Kazakhstan Branch

Tecnomare S.p.A. began operating in Kazakhstan in the early 1990s providing engineering and design services for the first Technical Assessments of the Karachaganak Field. The need to reinforce its presence in the country, following the steady growth of its activities, in 2001 led to the creation of the Tecnomare Kazakhstan Branch, based in Aksai. In 2010, the company’s presence in the country was further expanded with the opening of an office in Atyrau.

Tecnomare Egypt Ltd.

Tecnomare has been present in Egypt since 1994 with the creation of a Branch. The need to strengthen its long-term presence in 2008 led to the creation of Tecnomare Egypt Ltd., a highly specialised interface for the provision of engineering services to local companies in the Oil & Gas sector.

Tecnomare has implemented and actively pursues Eni’s policies for the safeguarding of the health and safety of people and the environment in all its activities and manages HSE as part of an Integrated Management System HSEQ, ISO 9001 certified since 1994 and OHSAS 18001 since 2009. Tecnomare is also involved in the Sustainability Project, launched by Eni in February 2006, with the aim of reinforcing the management system and integrated communication of environmental, social and economic-financial aspects and defining specific commitments and objectives to maintain balanced levels of growth compatible with social equity and ecosystems. Every year, when reviewing the HSEQ system, Tecnomare consolidates previous performance and sets new HSE and sustainability targets.
