In affirming the protection and promotion of human rights, the recognition and safeguarding of the dignity, freedom and equality of human beings, in conducting its business activities, including those in with business partners, Eni’s points of reference are the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the fundamental conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.

Eni’s Corporate Governance is based on a coordinated and homogeneous set of rules based on the principles of integrity and transparency. These rules are in line with the highest international standards, such as the UN Convention Against Corruption, the OECD Convention on Combating Bribery of Foreign Public Officials in international business transactions and the Business Principles for Countering Bribery of Transparency International. Moreover, for all of the abovementioned issues, the company actively interacts with various associations and participates directly in the initiatives promoted by the European Commission, the OECD, the World Bank, the United Nations and by industry associations (such as the WBCSD, IPIECA, Oil and Gas Producers, CSR Europe), to promote good business practices, encourage policy-making and help establish a framework of rules and guidelines to facilitate the development of the business and fair and lasting growth.
