Special prizes are awarded to the most cutting-edge research developed by researchers in our own laboratories. The 2015 prizes recognised three projects: a system to stop blow-out at wells using underground remote-control vehicles; a treatment to make the transport and use of bitumen more sustainable; and a project for the production of natural rubber and other substances from a small shrub.

  • Dual ROV (remotely operated vehicle)-assisted top kill system for blow-out recovery in deepwater drilling
