He was born in Foggia in September 1954, and has been the chairman of the Eni Foundation since May 2016. He is currently Executive Vice President of the “Legislation and Labour Disputes” and “Coordination of relations with business associations” functions at Eni. A member of the Eni Supervisory Board since 2014, he is also a member of the Executive Board of Federchimica, a member of the General Council and Deputy Chairman of the Assolombarda Chemicals Group and a member of the General Council of Unindustria Lazio. He is also chairman of the Supervisory Board and the Guarantor of the Code of Ethics of the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei.
He joined Eni in 1981 where he was engaged in industrial relations at Asap (the Italian trade union association for state-owned concerns). He subsequently occupied a number of positions of responsibility in the areas of personnel management, industrial relations and labour law. During his career at Eni he was head of HR in the most important industrial companies in the refining sector in Italy, as well as holding positions of responsibility in staff areas. Among numerous awards, he won the the “TOPLEGAL Corporate Counsel Awards 2014 and in 2015 the Legal Department of the Year for Corporate Social Responsibility”.
He teaches employment law at the National School of Public Administration, and is the author of numerous articles and publications in labour law including “Enterprise Security” and “Sub-contracting in civil and public law”. He was a director of the CNEL, representing Confindustria from July 2010 to January 2012 under the IX Consiliatura, Vice President of the Information Commission, as well as participating in the Work and Production Systems Commission and that of Social Policy as director.
In his activities of social interest he has been the chairman and a member of the Executive Council of the charity association Cuore, an organisation authorized by the Commission for International Adoptions established at the Italian Cabinet, and member of the Board of Arbitrators.
A lawyer, he graduated in Law from the University “La Sapienza” in Rome and specialising in labour, trade union and social security law.
