NAE Emerges as Local Content Operator of the Year

For the second time in the last three years, Nigerian Agip Exploration (NAE), the fully owned Eni company operating offshore of Nigeria, has been honoured as the 2016 Local Content Operator of the Year, in recognition of its distinguished performance amongst corporate organizations promoting local content development in the oil and gas sector in Nigeria. NAE was the recipient of the prestigious industry achievement award for 2014.

The Vice Chairman/Managing Director of NAOC/NAE/AENR, Mr. Massimo Insulla, received the award presented by the umbrella group for indigenous entrepreneurs, Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN), at a ceremony held in Lagos on the 1st of December 2016. The award is in recognition of the various initiatives and interventions being implemented by the company towards building local capacity, domestication of technology and collaboration for local content development in Nigeria.

The award has once again validated Eni’s strategy and commitment to local content development and its belief in long term partnership with the countries and communities where it operates. The company has implemented several initiatives to boost local capacity, especially in areas of Small and Medium businesses and Community Content and give opportunities to local goods and services providers to step-up to the high standard requirements in the oil and gas business.
Nigeria has one of the most developed and modern legislation regarding local content, with the Nigerian Oil Gas Industries Content Development (NOGICD) Act, which came into force in 2010.

PETAN Award Ceremony
Since 1962 Eni Nigeria has been promoting initiatives centered in capacity building by means of training and gap closure programs, HSE awareness campaigns, domiciliation of work in-country, patronage of Nigerian made materials, enhancement of the country’s industrial capacity, transfer of technology, execution of capacity development projects to assist indigenous

companies and host communities build up enterprises and achieve sustainable socio-economic growth, including supply of electricity from our plants thereby, empowering SMEs with increased production capacity.
Moreover Eni Nigeria co-funded the Nigerian content support fund and actively participates in the Nigerian Content Consultative Forum. Eni is also leading and driving the marine initiative of Nigeria oil industry operators group.
