The value of sharing: we want to build a relationship with our stakeholders that is based on fairness, transparency and integrity.
We firmly believe in the power of dialogue and relationships based on fairness, transparency and traceability, which is why a culture of respect is at the core of the way we operate. Building trust through involvement and relationships enables us to pursue concrete and shared sustainable development goals.
Who are stakeholders? They are people or groups that directly or indirectly influence or are influenced by the business of a company, its products and services, and the respective performance results. Stakeholders are first and foremost people who need to be informed in order to establish a constructive relationship and a rapport based on mutual trust and understanding. In our business, we are confronted daily with a multitude of different interlocutors and, as a result, careful management of stakeholder relationships is essential, as is building relationships based on long-term collaboration. For this reason, their direct involvement in every stage of the business, the promotion and sharing of common principles, dialogue and proactive exchange are all necessary. In this relationship, it is not only the technical content of our work that plays an important role, but also the set of values that represents the actions of our company and is at the foundation of the way we relate to each other.
Eni promotes and manages stakeholder relationships through departments that are expressly dedicated to interacting with certain types of interlocutors, both centrally and in the local entities where they operate. Since 2016, Eni has been implementing an integrated method of stakeholder management. A new web-based platform called the “Stakeholder Management System” (SMS) is being used to enable real-time monitoring of relationships, requests received (including grievances) and corporate actions envisaged to respond to the requests made. By 2019, the SMS system will be implemented at all of the subsidiaries in which Eni has operatorship and at the main plants in Italy. The principle sustainability issues of interest to stakeholders in the areas where Eni operates are the development of the local communities (especially land management, local content), risk management and environmental impacts. On a central level, the main issues of interest are transparency, climate change and methods for responding to Oil Spills.
