The health and safety of people, communities and partners are a primary objective in the management of our business. Consequently we manage health and safety on the basis of the principles of precaution, prevention, protection and continuous improvement, with responsibility spread across all levels of the company.
Health in Eni involves three areas: occupational medicine carried out in line with legal requirements, healthcare and the management of emergencies for people at Eni across the world and overall health. The latter, which has been an example of best practice at Eni since 2003, concerns:
Our approach towards health is both horizontal, with a capacity building strategy to support local communities, and vertical, with targeted actions, such as the prevention of malaria.
The biological, psychological and social wellbeing of people is fundamental for us.
We have always put the protection health at the centre of our objectives, both for our employees and the communities in the areas in which we operate, without limiting ourselves to regulatory compliance, but with a view to excellence. As a result, we have built a health management system based on the international OHSAS 18001 standards that is used across the board in all our operations. To assess the potential impact of our projects on the health of the communities involved, the Upstream sector has carried out a series of detailed studies to determine the impact on social health and the environment (HIA and ESHIA - Environmental and Social Health Impact Assessment).
