Eni manages the waste generated by activities through process traceability and control of the entire chain and is committed to the scrupulous respect of applicable legislation.
Waste from production activities at Eni generated 804,776 tons in 2016, a 34.6% reduction compared with the previous year (the equivalent of -426.000 tons), with a fall in both hazardous (-20.5%) and non-hazardous (-39.6%) waste.
The trend is mainly associated with the E&P sector (to which 77% of waste from production activities at Eni is attributable) where, compared with 2015, recorded a reduction of over 439,000 tons both in hazardous waste (-27% largely due to the reduction in oily sludge in Nigeria and a reduction in oil-based drilling detritus in Angola) and non-hazardous waste (a 45% in waste from drilling and production water disposed as waste in Italy, synthetic-based drilling sludge in Indonesia and oil-based drilling detritus in Egypt).
We manage the waste generated by our activities through process traceability and control of the entire chain.
