Given its extreme versatility, ease of transport and high calorific power (i.e. the energy that derives from burning) natural gas is an ideal fuel for industrial and domestic purposes: cooking, hot water heating and central heating. Moreover, in recent years that has been a development in Italy of cars driver by methane. In fact, Italy now has around 500,000 such vehicles, a third of the world’s total. In addition to the environmental advantages of methane-fuelled vehicles, there are also interesting cost benefits too.
