• Bio-refineries

    Through its Bio-refineries Project, Eni has reconfigured the refineries in Venice and Gela by identifying innovative solutions using “green” cycles that are both environmentally and economically sustainable. In particular, a business model has been developed that, through the upgrading of existing plants and Eni proprietary technologies, facilitates the conversion of unconventional and low-cost biological raw materials, such as vegetable oils and spent cooking oil, into high added value finished products (e.g. green diesel, green LPG, green naphtha).

  • Kashagan

    As part of the North Caspian Sea PSA, in which Eni holds a 16.81% stake, one of the most important discoveries of the last thirty years was made in July 2000: the giant Kashagan field, located 80 km south-east of Atyrau (Kazakhstan), in the Northern Caspian Sea.

  • Alternating School-Work project

    The Alternating School-Work project is one of the initiatives introduced by Eni following the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Italian Ministry of Education (MIUR) and Ministry of Labour and Social Policies (MLPS) to promote full integration between business and educational establishments. The programme aims to provide an overview of the current energy situation and help children in their career choices, allowing them to discover a range of professional roles at Eni from up close and encouraging them to develop the transferrable skills needed for successful entry into the world of work.

  • Coral South

    The discovery is located in water more than 2000 meters deep and approximately 80 kilometers offshore of the Palma bay in the northern province of Cabo Delgado, in Mozambique. The Plan of Development, the very first one to be approved in the Rovuma Basin, foresees the drilling and completion of 6 subsea wells and the construction and installation of a technologically advanced state-of-the-art Floating LNG facility, the capacity of which will be around 3.4 MTPA.

  • East Hub Development

    The East Hub Development Project is an area located in Block 15/06 offshore Angola, and includes 9 subsea wells, of which 5 are producers and 4 are water injectors, in water depth ranging between 450 and 550 metres. The hydrocarbons which are produced from these wells are transported via a pipeline system to the FPSO to be treated and stored prior to export. It is one of seven record-breaking projects from Eni, all of which are remarkable for their rapid approval rates and times to start-up.

  • Eni Junior Professor

    This project involves the training of 8 future teachers in Oil & Gas engineering at the University of Mondlane in Maputo, Mozambique.


  • Eni in safety

    3 years after the launch, Eni in Safety aims to transform each employee into a safety leader, making each individual responsible not only for their own behaviour, but also that of their colleagues, intervening directly in the case of any dangerous situation arising.

  • First Level Apprenticeship

    The First Level Apprenticeship project, another of the initiatives that aims to promote full integration between business and educational establishments, involves students carrying out work experience and training at Eni’s premises alongside their regular studies. This is achieved through on-the-job training, traditional classroom-based courses and e-learning. The students involved come predominantly from technical and vocational colleges and attend various Eni industrial sites, from the Gela, Venice and Sannazzaro refineries to the Oil Centres in Val d’Agri. They are supported by tutors from Eni, who work closely with their school teachers.

  • Goliat

    In an area free of ice, off the coast of Norway, Eni started production at Goliat, the first oil field to begin production in the Barents Sea. Goliat is being developed using the largest and the world’s most sophisticated floating production and cylindrical storage unit.

  • Green Data Centre

    The Eni Green Data Centre, which came into operation in 2013, was developed with the aim of ensuring the highest level of reliability for all of the company’s IT requirements, and to achieve world-beating “green” energy efficiency results. The facility hosts all of the central processing systems, both for management systems and the processing of HPC simulations.

  • Green River Project

    The Green River Project is an integrated development programme for farming and livestock in the Niger Delta. The programme aims to improve the livelihoods of Niger Delta communities and pursue food security, increasing food availability, generating employment and improving access to social services.

  • Integrated Project Hinda

    The Hinda Integrated Project (PIH) focuses on the development of the communities neighbouring the M’Boundi onshore industrial facilities. The project has so far built 22 water wells.

  • Jangkrik

    Production at the two Jangkrik Complex gas fields, scheduled by the first half of the year, has started in May 2017 with a time to market of just three-and-a-half years from the date of the investment decision. Furthermore, thanks to Eni’s near-field exploration strategy, the FPU can be used as a hub not only for fields in the Jangkrik Complex, but also for other recent discoveries nearby. The unit will be connected to 10 deepwater subsea production wells and the gas sent to the Bontang liquefaction plant following treatment on board. Jangkrik is one of seven record-breaking projects from Eni, all of which have extremely rapid development and production startup times in common.

  • Karachaganak

    Located onshore in the western part of the country, Karachaganak (29.25%, co-operator with Shell) is a giant oilfield that produces oil, condensates and natural gas. The operations carried out by the Karachaganak Petroleum Operating Consortium (KPO) are governed by a Production Sharing Agreement. Production in the year amounted to 231,000 barrels/day of liquids (61,000 for Eni) and 26 million cubic metres/day of natural gas (about 7 million for Eni).

  • Nené Marine

    The Nené Marine field in Marine Block XII (Eni 65%, operator), produce from the pre-salt layer Djeno formation, 2.5 kilometres below ground level. The complete development of Nené will be in several stages and will involve the installation of production platforms and the drilling of 30 wells. It is one of seven record-breaking projects from Eni, all of which are remarkable for their rapid approval rates and times to start-up.

  • Nooros

    Nooros is a gas field located in Egypt, offshore the Nile Delta: a confirmation of the effectiveness of our near-field exploratory strategy; the reservoir was discovered in July 2015 and production started in September of the same year. In spring 2018 Nooros has reached a production level of 215,000 BOE per day.

  • Offshore Cape Three Points

    OCTP is an integrated offshore deepwater development project located approximately 60 km off the coast of the western region of Ghana, which includes volumes of oil in place of about 500 million barrels of oil and non-associated gas, or around 41 billion cubic metres that will be used entirely by the domestic market for the production of electrical energy. The project has launched production in just two and a half years, and three months ahead of schedule and will provide domestic gas supply to Ghana’s thermal power plants for more than 15 years. It is one of seven record-breaking projects from Eni, all of which are remarkable for their rapid approval rates and times to start-up.

  • Poseidon

    Eni’s Poseidon Project transforms decommissioned gas extraction platforms, off the coast of the Romagna region in the Adriatic Sea, into centres for the study of marine fauna and flora and the protection of endangered species. With the creation of an authentic science park, the first of its kind in Europe, the project is helping to protect biodiversity.

  • Progetto Zubair

    Eni has devised an education strategy for the Zubair area for 2017-22, in line with its local and national development plans, to be carried out through a comprehensive programme featuring a number of infrastructure, teaching and vocational-training projects. These include restoring and rebuilding 50 schools, completing the construction of 27 school buildings, improving teaching standards and providing professional training.

  • Programma Hawosa

    In 2014, Eni promoted at its premises an internal awareness campaign to reduce injuries to the hands, which currently account for around 30% of the total.

  • Project Italy

    In the area of renewables, Eni has launched the Progetto Italia, an industrial conversion project that foresees the creation of mainly photovoltaic plants at industrial sites reclaimed by Syndial that are available for use and of low interest for other activities. Many of these areas can be converted into green energy production facilities.

  • Safety Training Center

    A new centre for the provision of training and refresher courses related to the conduct of on-site operations has been operating since June 2016. The Safety Training Centre will be able to handle up to 1,400 employees a year, offering important opportunities for the territory.

  • School Projects in Basilicata

    Eni has confirmed its support for school and cultural projects in Basilicata, with initiatives aimed at meeting local needs in partnership with the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei, in line with agreements signed with the Basilicata Region.

  • Second generation Green Diesel demo plant

    Dedicated to the creation of a proprietary process to produce oils to be converted into Green Diesel through the proprietary Ecofining™ technology.


  • Site Characterization

    Site characterisation” projects develop new techniques and protocols for the monitoring of water, air and soil.


  • Site Remediation and Disposal

    Site remediation and disposal” projects generate highly eco-compatible techniques for the remediation of soil, such as phytoremediation for the biodegradation of organic compounds.

  • Solar Energy Project

    R&D projects in the field of solar energy and storage aim to develop applications for the supply of electricity and steam, reducing the energy footprint and the realisation of sustainable initiatives to make electricity available in areas where it does not currently exist.

  • The Guayule project

    In the field of Green Chemistry, an experimental agricultural line has been initiated for the project, involving the transplantation of 100,000 guayule seedlings at 2 farms belonging to the Agricultural Development  Authority (ESA) of the Region of Sicily. Initial results will be available in the second half of 2017.

  • UN Global Compact LEAD Board Programme

    Eni was one of six companies in the world to join the pilot phase of the UN Global Compact LEAD Board Programme, a programme aimed at the boards of directors of companies in order to strengthen their awareness of sustainability.

  • Waste to Fuel

    Eni is developing Waste-to-Fuel processes able to transform the organic part of solid urban waste (FORSU) into bio-oils to feed into the refining cycle in order to obtain biofuels. The technology’s development stage on a pilot scale has been completed at the Novara Research Centre.

  • Water Treatment

    Water treatment” projects relate to the development of proprietary technologies for treating production water, wastewater and groundwater.


  • Water Wells Project

    The project aims to improve living conditions and sanitation practices of about 4,000 people in the area of Palma, with safe and lasting access to drinking water. In 2015, a small water distribution network was created.

  • West Hub Development

    The West Hub Development Project includes the development of the Sangos, Cinguvu, Mpungi, Mpungi North, Ochigufu and Vandumbu fields, at water depths ranging from 1,000 to 1,500 metres. The wells are arranged in groups and connected to the N’Goma Floating Production Storage and Offloading Unit. It is one of seven record-breaking projects from Eni, all of which are remarkable for their rapid approval rates and times to start-up.

  • Zohr

    Zohr is the largest gas discovery ever made in Egypt and in the Mediterranean Sea. Eni has produced its first gas from the supergiant Zohr field in a record time for this type of field, less than two and a half years from the discovery. For this reason, it is one of seven record-breaking projects from Eni, all of which are remarkable for their rapid approval rates and times to start-up.
