Eni has been operating in Centro Olio Viggiano since 1998

Activities

  • Exploration & Production

Eni is the operator of the Val d’Agri concession (Eni 60.77%) in Basilicata. Production from the Monte Alpi, Monte Enoc and Cerro Falcone fields is treated at the Viggiano oil centre. Currently the Val d’Agri field produces about 75,000 barrels of oil a day and 4.6 million SMC3 a day that is accounted for about 40 percent of Eni’s total Italian oil and gas production. A development programme is also underway following an agreement with the Basilicata Region signed in 1998. Meanwhile, in the exploration sector, activities for the evaluation of residual mineral potential of the area continue.

Basilicata

In Val d’Agri Eni operates with full respect for environmental protection with the adoption of cutting-edge technology and detailed territorial controls, carried out using a monitoring network that is unique in the world. The activities of the COVA (Centro Olio Val d'Agri) and our practice of treating production water and re-injection in the Costa Molina 2 well have been the subject of an enormous quantity of authorisations from competent bodies.

Projects

  • Alternating School-Work project

The Alternating School-Work project is one of the initiatives introduced by Eni following the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Italian Ministry of Education (MIUR) and Ministry of Labour and Social Policies (MLPS) to promote full integration between business and educational establishments. The programme aims to provide an overview of the current energy situation and help children in their career choices, allowing them to discover a range of professional roles at Eni from up close and encouraging them to develop the transferrable skills needed for successful entry into the world of work.

  • First Level Apprenticeship

The First Level Apprenticeship project, another of the initiatives that aims to promote full integration between business and educational establishments, involves students carrying out work experience and training at Eni’s premises alongside their regular studies. This is achieved through on-the-job training, traditional classroom-based courses and e-learning. The students involved come predominantly from technical and vocational colleges and attend various Eni industrial sites, from the Gela, Venice and Sannazzaro refineries to the Oil Centres in Val d’Agri. They are supported by tutors from Eni, who work closely with their school teachers.

  • School Projects in Basilicata

Eni has confirmed its support for school and cultural projects in Basilicata, with initiatives aimed at meeting local needs in partnership with the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei, in line with agreements signed with the Basilicata Region.
