  • Distribution & Trading

Eni operates in Russia in the retail market (oil and non-oil) and in the wholesale (lubricants) through its subsidiary Eni Nefto. The company has a service station in Moscow that is managed directly. The station is located on the main route that connects Sheremetyevo Airport to the city center on a long-term concession by the City; the service station has a high paid oil and has a large shop, a bar and a wash. The station, opened in 1991, was the first foreign brand operated in the former Soviet Union.
The retail activity is accompanied by the sale of Eni’s branded lubricants in the Russian wholesale market.

  • Exploration

Eni is currently partnering the Russian company Rosneft in executing two exploration projects in the Russian sections of the Barents Sea and one in the Black Sea. The contracts pertaining to the above mentioned exploration licenses were entered into before the enactment of the restrictive measures and the competent authorities of the relevant EU Member States waived contracts under execution when the sanctions were firstly enacted. The EU sanction regime has been extend until July 2017; however it is possible that it could change in relation to the evolution of the political situation in Ukraine.

  • Gas Supply

In 2016 the supply of natural gas of the Russian Federation to Eni were 27,99 billion cubic meters (30.33 billion in 2015), with a reduction of 2.34 billion cubic meters, which always represents the 34% of the total. Eni holds a 50% interest in the Blue Stream underwater pipeline (with a record water depth of more than 2,150 meters) linking the Russian coast to the Turkish coast of the Black Sea. This pipeline is 774-kilometer long on two lines and has transport capacity of 16 bcm/y. It is part of a joint venture to sell gas produced in Russia on the Turkish market.
