Offshore Cape Three Points

OCTP is an integrated offshore deepwater development project located approximately 60 km off the coast of the western region of Ghana, which includes volumes of oil in place of about 500 million barrels of oil and non-associated gas, or around 41 billion cubic metres that will be used entirely by the domestic market for the production of electrical energy. The project has launched production in just two and a half years, and three months ahead of schedule, and thanks to 18 subsea wells connected to the FPSO "John Agyekum Kufuor" and a 63km pipeline, will provide domestic gas supply to Ghana’s thermal power plants for more than 15 years. It is one of seven record-breaking projects from Eni, all of which are remarkable for their rapid approval rates and times to start-up.

The FPSO “John Agyekum Kufuor”, named after Ghana’s Former President Kufuor, is a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, that shall operate in Sankofa-Gye Nyame field in the Tano Basin, in Ghana’s offshore, for the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) project. After setting sail from Singapore on 28 February, after 40 days the vessel reached Ghana on 10 April. The FPSO has an oil treatment capacity of 58,000 barrels per day and a gas treatment capacity of up to 210 million standard cubic feet per day. Additional facilities include a water injection module of up to 55,000 barrels per day and gas injection facilities of up to 150 million standard cubic feet per day.

Gas Advocacy

Eni is focused on continuous growth based on exploration and the creation of long-term value, for a future in which everyone can have efficient and sustainable access to energy. To this end, it has embarked on an energy transition towards a low-carbon future that gives natural gas a central role alongside the growing development of renewable sources. In fact, gas advocacy, along with the promotion of renewables, can help eliminate the use of more polluting fossil fuels, such as coal, which is responsible for more than 70% of CO₂ emissions in the electricity sector. As a demonstration of this commitment, gas accounts for 51% of Eni’s consolidated reserves.
