Goliat

In an area free of ice, off the coast of Norway, Eni has started production at Goliat, the first oil field to begin production in the Barents Sea. Goliat has been developed using the largest and most sophisticated cylindrical floating production and storage unit (FPSO) in the world, built using the most advanced technologies to address the technical and environmental challenges linked to operations in an Arctic environment, with a capacity of 1 million barrels of oil. Daily output will reach 100,000 barrels of oil per day (65,000 bopd net to Eni) and will take place using a subsea system consisting of 22 wells (17 of which are already completed), of which 12 are production wells, 7 serve to inject water into the reservoir and three for injecting gas. Goliat uses the most advanced technological solutions to minimise the environmental impact, thanks to shore-based power supplies and the ‘zero discharge’ operational concept.
