From the transportation and storage of hydrocarbons to oil refinery and product distribution.
The Midstream sector brings together the work of the Gas, LNG (liquefied natural gas), Power and Trading business units, all of which report to the Gas & LNG Marketing and Power management and are increasingly being integrated into the Upstream sector. The Downstream sector, meanwhile, encompasses gas and power retail activities via the company Eni gas e luce.
This division includes the Midstream activities of wholesale and retail supply and sale of natural gas, the purchase and sale of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and the production and sale of electricity.
Gas & LNG Marketing and Power is Eni's new model that combines its Upstream activities with the Midstream activities of sales and marketing. The transformation we are undergoing will see the Gas & Power and Upstream sectors brought ever closer together, making the most of all possible opportunities for collaboration while respecting individual ecosystems.
In the Downstream sector, since July 2017, Eni gas e luce was launched – distinct from Eni’s main activities and aimed at retail consumers. Discover your energy profile and also interesting facts and news from the world of energy.
The versatility, ease of transport and the high calorific power of gas make it the ideal fuel for both industrial and domestic use. Here are some of the results obtained.
The Refining & Marketing sector includes Midstream, which consist of refining with new biorefineries and chemistry with solutions for green chemistry, and Downstream, which encompasses retail activities from gasoline to Enjoy's car sharing.
Refining and chemistry are in the Midstream sector: innovation, attention to the environment and sustainability are our priorities. We convert conventional refineries into biorefineries and with green chemistry we apply innovative solutions for a respectful approach to territories and the environment.
We are strengthening our presence in the refining sector, aiming for high-quality products and the renovation of existing sites.
We convert traditional refineries to those capable of processing biological raw materials to provide fuel. Biofuel Eni Diesel + is produced in Porto Marghera, the first reconverted plant.
Most of our chemicals activity takes place in Porto Marghera, Priolo and Ferrara. Among our products are industrial packaging, toys and food containers.
The strategy that Eni is pursuing will see the relaunch of the sector, all the while valuing expertise and innovation without compromising the environment. This process involves converting two plants into biorefineries (in Venice and Gela), improving efficiency by increasing plants’ rates of use and using proprietary technology such as EcofiningTM.
The Downstream sector comprises the retail activities connected to Eni filling stations and fuels, as well as oil products for business. However, it also includes Enjoy, the car-sharing service that allows people to move easily around the city and reduce their emissions, and Multicard payment cards, designed for companies managing fleets of light vehicles on the road.
We create sustainable value over the long term in a challenging economic climate: our growth in numbers.
