We have confirmed our commitment to respect the principles approved by the United Nations in terms of human rights and businesses.
Eni’s vision on human rights builds on the dignity of every human being and on companies’ responsibility to contribute to the well-being of local individuals and communities.
Eni is publishing its new Statement on the respect for Human Rights, after the Board of Directors’ approval on December 13, 2018.
The new Statement lays out Eni’s vision, aims and specific commitments on Human Rights, underlining their centrality in each of the company’s activities and spelling out their rooting in international principles. The Statement describes Eni's approach to human rights as well as its standards and commitments aimed at meeting its internationally recognized responsibilities. Moreover, the Statement confirms Eni’s commitment to respect the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights approved by the United Nations in 2011 and it is referred to all parties working for and with Eni, including employees, business partners and local communities. The document identifies Eni’s Human Rights salient issues taking into consideration the company’s operating context and outlines the standards and processes in place.
Co-operation among the functional areas managing key Human Rights topics was essential for the development of the Statement. It also greatly benefited from input from leading organizations in the Business and Human Rights field.
