The first annual meeting required under the Global Framework Agreement on International Industrial Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility, signed by Eni, the IndustriALL Global Union and the FILCTEM CGIL, FEMCA CISL and UILTEC UIL trade unions, took place on 5 December.
The meeting, opened by Davide Calabrò, EVP for Industrial Relations at Eni, set out the main topics covered by the agreement. This was followed by an in-depth look at Eni’s strategic plan for 2017-20, with special focus on employment and the company’s performance and key initiatives in the field of HSE, and its approach to different aspects of corporate social responsibility.
In addition to Eni’s representatives, the meeting was attended by the IndustriALL Global Union, national secretaries for the sector from the FILCTEM CGIL, FEMCA CISL and UILTEC UIL trade unions, members of the European Business Council Select Committee and a delegation of workers’ representatives from Eni’s businesses in Ghana, Mozambique and Tunisia. The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange ideas and explore the various community organisations and trade unions in the workers’ countries of origin.
The Global Framework Agreement was signed on 7 July 2016 with the IndustriALL Global Union, which represents approximately 50m workers in 140 different countries, with affiliated trade unions in more than 100 countries and with the national secretaries of FILCTEM CGIL, FEMCA CISL and UITEC UIL. Signatories of the agreement recognise the tools designed to ensure responsible, ethical and morally correct behaviour in business as set out in the ILO (International Labour Organisation) fundamental Conventions and OCSE Guidelines.
