On November 14, 2017, in Eni Myanmar Base Camp located in Magway Region (RSF-5 Block, Central Myanmar), took place the Safety Day. The day has been fully dedicated and focused on to the safety and health of the workers involved in the 3D onshore seismic acquisition project which is extended on 500 km2, consisting mainly in agricultural area characterized by the presence of several local communities.
The event has been organized by Eni Myanmar HSE Department at the beginning of the second operative season of the project, in connection with the end of the Monsoon, with the aim to involve all the workers (500), strengthen the theoretical and practical training received during the re-mobilization phase, and mainly to promote the awareness about the safety in the workplace and reinforce the Eni commitment in recognizing the HSE as a value and priority in the operations.
The day has been structured in an operative training in the morning for each professional category and associated HSE risks identification, team-building lunch and a ceremony in plenary session in the afternoon.
The ceremony represented the core moment of the whole initiative, at the presence of the Regional Ministry of Energy, the Magway District and Region Representatives, it has been opened by a speech of the Managing Director, Stefano Carbonara, followed by the Exploration Manager and the Geophysical Operation Manger of Eni Myanmar, by the Representative of Geofizyka Toruń, seismic contractor, its main local subcontractors and the First Party, Myanma Oil&Gas Enterprise (MOGE), strongly present in the project in terms of supervision.
The onsite HSE Representative introduced the HSE Golden Rules, prepared purposely for the crew based on the onshore seismic operations techniques and the experience gained during the first operative phase. Then the International SOS doctors restated the health risks connected to the activities themselves and to the geographical context, a remote area with extreme weather conditions.
Finally, special recognitions have been awarded to the best HSE behavior within each professional category delivered by the Management present, words of thanks and gadgets delivery.
The event has been characterized by an atmosphere of strong team integration, high concentration and participation from the local workers, the line supervisors and all the functions involved in the project visiting the site.
The Authorities were impressed by the Eni operative, HSE and sustainability approach, by the messages expressed during the ceremony and the tangible effort spent in spreading the health and safety culture. During the Safety Day, spontaneously it has been raised the Eni attitude to implement the activities integrated in the country, always applying international standards, but preserving the local resources, both natural and human, in a view of sustainable development, conservation and promotion of the hosting country diversity.
