Operations, Sustainability
After the Eni Environment Award received the last 5th June, the project “Ridge 2 Reef” implemented by the subsidiary VICO Indonesia is keep progressing.
The project has distinguished itself by having developed targeted and concrete action in the last four years for the protection of a highly ecologically valuable habitat.
In a complex habitat, characterized by the dynamic interconnection between the current ecosystems, the project has been able to capture the importance of implementing synergistic action through a holistic approach called “Ridge to Reef” that affects the upstream forest, the downstream mangrove forest and the coral Reef, in the area surrounding the VICO (East Kalimantan) operating zone.
Continuing its virtuous path, on 10th July, working with the Indonesian Navy and local NGOs, VICO Indonesia planted around additional 2000 mangrove seeds along the coastal area close to its operations, at the Pengempang Beach, Tanjung Limau Village, Marangkayu District, Kutai Kertanegara Regent, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. This program also acknowledged by Mr. Edi Damansyah, deputy governor of the Kutai Kertanegara regency in Kalimantan.
Getting community engagement for “Ridge to Reef” project is one of VICO visions to maintain the sustainability of the program together with the local government and all the relevant stakeholders.
