On May 16th, at the headquarters in San Donato Milanese, the fifth Eni safety day is held, an event entirely dedicated to safety, with the participation of all the company levels. The annual appointment dedicated to HSE culture at Eni takes place in the presence of senior company management with the participation of about 400 managers and the awarding of the most virtuous industrial areas in terms of safety and the people who have most distinguished themselves in this field. The event is organized in a morning session dedicated to Eni employees and an afternoon session dedicated to contractors.
The Eni safety awards were conferred to industrial areas of each Eni line of the business that achieved the best safety performance and to the special and innovative projects that allowed to combine the operating efficiency of the industrial processes with safety in carrying out activities and with the timely intervention capacity, even in complex contexts. As to safety awarding of the most virtuous areas, the following businesses were involved: districts and subsidiaries engaged in upstream operations, refineries, petrochemical sites and power plants, companies with midstream and g&p retail operations, to name just a few. The winners were selected on the basis of a scoring model that takes account of a range of parameters, such as the trend in injury performance of employees and contractors.
Prizes were also be given to the faces of safety, i.e. the Eni people who most stood out for behaviors and ideas that have improved safety at Eni or whose actions were instrumental avoiding potentially dangerous situations in difficult contexts. It is a significant prize that highlights the fundamental importance, especially in this context, of the contribution and commitment of the individual in order to obtain a collective result.
The afternoon session is devoted entirely to contractors and involves some 170 companies operating in various sectors, from drilling to mechanical maintenance and construction, oil well services and general services. The winning contractor companies received the Eni safety award based on an evaluation that takes account of several factors, including the historical trend of injuries and accidents and the commitment shown by the companies to safety-related issues. The awards of this year are characterized by a greater articulation of the selection criteria of the contractor companies, which distinguished themselves for their activities in the field of safety.
But Eni commitment in the field of safety does not end here. After the institutional event, local safety days will be organized at operating and industrial sites of Eni all over the world. The company, at all its dimensions, in this way confirms its own commitment to these issues and to the continuous engagement of all the employees. On the occasion of local events, local and global safety performances will be presented and discussed as well as the safety issues to focus on, in line with the internal awareness raising campaigns which Eni periodically promotes and that aim to the reduction of specific types of injuries.
