Eni's CEO Paolo Scaroni meets with Libyan Prime Minister Ali Zidan

Rome, 7 March 2014 – Libyan Prime Minister, Ali Zidan, and Eni’s CEO, Paolo Scaroni, met today in Rome to discuss Eni's activities in Libya and the energy sector in the Country.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Ali Zidan reiterated the importance Eni’s historical presence in Libya and emphasised that at present the company contributes half of overall Libyan hydrocarbon production, ensuring the generation of electricity for local use.

Eni’s CEO discussed  with the Prime Minister the need to ensure the safety of production facilities, organizing their safeguard to avoid production interruptions which negatively impact the country and the technical operation of the fields.

Paolo Scaroni reiterated to the Prime Minister the importance of Libya to Italy’s gas supply security, and as a strategic country for Eni’s activities. Mr Scaroni expressed the hope that Libya will continue on its path towards stability and security.

Eni has been present in Libya since 1959 and is the largest international oil company operating in the country, with a current production of about 230 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day.
