Knowledge for a future that begins today
Our mission reveals Eni's values when it comes to the climate, the environment, access to energy, cooperation, partnerships, respect for people and human rights. It was launched against the backdrop of the UN General Assembly and the 2019 Climate Summit in New York, where the UN, governments, citizens and companies met to try and get nearer to achieving the SDGs. The new mission picks up where the last, begun in 2016, left off. Having been approved by the Board of Directors, it will be a point of reference for the company and its more than 30,000 employees in 67 countries.
Actions and commitment for a sustainable development
Our mission is inspired by the UN's Agenda 2030, launched in September 2015, when more than 150 world leaders got together to help global development, promote human well-being and protect the environment. Integral to this action plan are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in various fields of social, economic and environmental development.
Our global presence makes us acutely aware of the challenges the world faces today: our new mission sets out the values and principles which will drive us in helping tackle those challenges.

Actions, values and responsibilities
Our mission strengthens to the utmost the principles that our company business model is based on. We recognise that the energy sector's biggest challenge is balancing maximum access to energy with the fight against climate change. That is why we have changed our energy mix, allowing us to reduce our impact on the planet. Our model will dictate how we integrate sustainability in all our operations, from reducing greenhouse gas emissions to respect for the environment, human rights to staff training, promoting local development to access to energy.
