Chief Executive Officer of Eni, Claudio Descalzi comments on the new agreement signed with ADNOC: "This is considered a unique operation for Eni and in the sector as a whole. It comes from our strategy to balance our large upstream presence by creating a downstream hub, increase our refinery capacity and create much more flexibility in refinery capacity to process different oils. This is a particularly important area because it is close to the market, we are in one of the most important refineries in the world. The fourth largest now it is set to become the largest with future expansions. We have developed various technologies in Italy that will increase the flexibility, efficiency and effectiveness of Ruweis. This is one of the reasons we were chosen. Refining is also part of the Middle East development strategy, where we recently signed 8 agreements of which 6 in Abu Dhabi. The refinery has a very important development potential for Eni”.
