Energy Superfacts: Circular economy

Circular economy

Claudio Descalzi, Eni CEO: "Climate change threatens to destroy the Earth. The situation is worrying and needs to be addressed urgently”. Since 1880, the temperature of the planet has risen causing the first ecosystem disasters. What can be done? At the Paris climate conference (COP21) in December 2015, 195 countries found agreement for a global action plan aimed at keeping the average global temperature increase well below 2°C compared to pre-industrial levels as a long-term goal.

25% of European energy relies on coal, responsible for 80% of CO2 emissions. In the West, 17% of the world's population consumes 80% of its resources. The solution is to consume less raw material, have more efficient production processes, produce less waste and put more waste back into circulation by turning it into new products. Companies must completely rethink objects, from their production to reuse.
