At the bottom of the sea

Our ISWEC technology

The sea's energy potential is estimated at around eighty thousand billion kilowatt hours per year: five times the world's needs. Different methods are being developed to exploit this potential, the main ones use currents, tides, temperature difference and wave motion. Our Inertial Sea Wave Converter (ISWEC) system is based on using the motion of waves. Developed at the Novara Research Center for Renewable Energy and the Environment and already active at our offshore plants in Ravenna, ISWEC is able to convert the sea wave energy into electrical energy, adapting to the weather conditions so guaranteeing high production efficiency.
