Eni at the Giffoni Film Festival, between cinema and energy transition

The 53rd edition of the 2023 Giffoni Film Festival has just come to an end, featuring our involvement as a Main Partner with activities focused on discussing decarbonization.

What’s new at Giffoni 2023

From 20 to 29 July, we attended the Giffoni Film Festival, which is held every year in Giffoni Valle Piana, in the province of Salerno. The Festival, one of the best known in Italy and abroad, is particularly aimed at young people.

This year, we presented themes relating to the energy transition to an audience of young people and families, involving them on the concrete solutions we offer for decarbonization, also in terms of social responsibility.

There were several meetings with young people in dedicated spaces, including a personalised exhibition space, a Masterclass entirely devoted to the young and other playful or more engaged actitivies.

Our participation in the Festival

In the exhibition space, video content and the proposed engagement points informed young audiences about Eni and its retail companies’ integrated approach to decarbonization. The path to Net Zero was explained in a simple, captivating way.

To engage the public, fun and entertainment spots were set up inside the exhibition space featuring Eni's three retail companies: Eni Live Station's interactive game, the exciting Plenitude Quiz, and a Versalis’ engaging mini-golf game. Here, young participants could enjoy themselves while discovering the concrete solutions that Eni offers to reduce carbon emissions and preserve the environment.

Within the Giffoni Valley, there were other spontaneous entertainment spaces where we organised large true-scale games. It was an interactive experience where you could play and at the same time learn more about sustainability and decarbonization issues.

The Impact Masterclass

Within the event, Eni played a key role in one of the Impact Masterclasses, with the support of three representatives of its three Retail companies; a very important event that saw the participation of 250 youngsters from different backgrounds - such as schools, academia, start-ups and work - who could hear about Eni’s solutions to tackle the challenge of decarbonization and to actively participate in the class through questions and in-depth contributions.

The previous editions

Born in 1971 from an idea of Claudio Gubitosi, over the years the Giffoni Film Festival has grown to become an international event and a project of great ethical and social value. Now in its 53rd edition, it has in the meantime evolved, presenting itself as a programme rich in cultural proposals for children, young people and parents from all over Italy and over fifty countries worldwide. In 2022, we launched the Eni Special Award, a special prize given to one of the films in the contest, based on themes that are strategic for Eni. The winner was Buladò, a film in the +13 category, which won the Eni Special Award from the main partner of #Giffoni50Plus.

Our collaboration stems from our desire to support one of the best Italian projects designed for young people and their families, promoting among the new generations topics that are strategic for us, such as the role of the circular economy in the energy transition and the importance of education, understood as social responsibility.
