Our operations in México

We are proud to be the first international energy company to win the first bid round in the south-eastern basin (golfo Sureste) in 2015. We currently hold interests in 8 exploration and production blocks (6 as an Operator), all located in the Sureste Basin in the Gulf of México. Our current gross production in México is 32,000 barrels of oil per day.

Eni’s Block 1 developments include three fields: Miztón, Amoca and Tecoalli. Others include the Sáasken and Sayulita fields in Block 10. With increasingly efficient times to market using our industry-leading fast-track model, start-up on our Miztón field began in 2019 – less than 2.5 years after drilling the first well.

Our Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessel (FPSO Miamte MV34) arrived in early 2022, marking full field production from the Miztón field and the start-up of the Amoca field Production in February and March 2022 respectively. This will be followed by full field development including the Amoca WHP-2 Platform and Tecoalli Monopode by 2024. FPSO MIAMTE is the first privately operated Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel in México.

In March 2023, we announced a new discovery on the Yatzil exploration prospect in Block 7, located in mid-deep water in the Sureste Basin, that may contain around 200 million barrels of oil (MBoe) in place.

In 2022, we celebrated the launch of FPSO Miamte. Watch the videos to learn about the project and the talented Eni people who worked on it.
