Eni Sustainable Mobility, Eni’s new company

It has been operational since 1 January 2023 and it is wholly controlled by Eni

Eni established a new company dedicated to sustainable mobility and uniquely positioned as a customer-focused multi-energy and multi-service business.

The company is called Eni Sustainable Mobility S.p.A. and has been operational since 1 January 2023. Eni is transferring to this company operations related to bio-refining, marketing and distribution of all energy carriers for mobility, including fuels, also of organic origin, such as HVO (Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil) and biomethane, electric recharging at petrol stations and hydrogen, bitumen, lubricants and fuels in general, as well as the offer of mobility-related services such as Enjoy car sharing, catering and services in general at sales points.

The new company is consistent with Eni's strategy of setting up special purpose vehicles equipped with all the organisational and financial levers necessary to seize the opportunities and growth prospects offered by the energy transition. Eni Sustainable Mobility is directly controlled by Eni, which holds 100% of its share capital.

Since February 2023, the HVOlution biofuel, Eni Sustainable Mobility's first diesel produced from 100% renewable raw materials (pursuant to Directive (EU) 2018/2001 "REDII"), has been sold at 50 Eni petrol stations. By March 2023, it will be available in 150 sales points in Italy. HVOlution is a biofuel that is produced from waste raw materials and vegetable residue, and from oils generated by crops that do not compete with the food chain. The proprietary Ecofining™ technology makes it possible to process waste vegetable raw materials and non-edible oils to produce the HVO (Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil) biofuel, of which Eni Sustainable Mobility is the second largest producer in Europe.

The establishment of Eni Sustainable Mobility reinforces Eni's commitment to achieve net-zero carbon by 2050, preparing it to reduce emissions from its operations (scope 1 and 2) and, as demand for fossil fuels decreases, also to eliminate the scope 3 component of carbon emissions over time by selling bio, green and blue products to its customers, identifying a distinctive model in the global energy sector.
