Knowledge Management System

Knowledge management is the answer, from a practical and “normative‘ point of view, to a company's need to put knowledge and skills to effective good use, with a view to promoting the professional growth of the people involved.

Accordingly, the goal of knowledge management is twofold:

  •  the codification and systematization of the explicit knowledge residing in and spread throughout an organisation in various forms and expressions, so as to promote its effective good use;
  •  the drawing out of the tacit knowledge (which represents, to use an analogy, the hidden, submerged part of an iceberg) which knowledge workers have, so that it can be spread and shared throughout the company.

Knowledge management thus represents a structured approach to knowledge and skills, whereby knowledge is addressed with a global view:

  • from a technological, organisational and IT point of view, understood as “enabling factors‘ for the knowledge process;
  •  from the point of view of knowledge workers, who need to be encouraged to “feel‘ motivated to share their knowledge and skills within the company.
