Certifications

Currently, nearly all of the Company’s key operating unit management systems have obtained ISO 14001 certification.

Eni's main production units in Europe have begun pursuing EMAS registration  while numerous foreign subsidiaries, petrochemical plants and gas pipelines have obtained the certification integrated with safety management systems (OHSAS 18001), quality management systems (ISO 9000) or both (certificates of excellence). ISO 14001 certifications are the majority (125, of which 42 for management systems and 83 for specific sites). EMAS registrations are 10, OHSAS are 61, ISM for management systems of maritime vessels safety, are 22 and other types of certifications are 128 ( of which 111 related to ISO 9001 systems).

In the E&P sector, 24 out of 37 subsidiaries obtained ISO 14001 certification, or 63% compared to a target of 80%, due to the fact the number of  subsidiaries included has increased. The extension of certification to all operational activities is planned by 2013.

In the R&M sector EMAS registration was completed for 4 of the 5 owned refineries:  the Gela refinery has a suspended EMAS registration and is awaiting authorization from the Regional Environmental Agency. In 2009 5 crude oil and oil products storage sites were included in the EMAS registrations of the related refineries (Calenzano, Ortona, Pegli, Ferrera and Imperia).

In June 2009 the petrochemical plants of Ferrara, Ravenna, Ragusa, Settimo Milanese and Hythe obtained the Certificate of Excellence ( in addition to Sarroch, Brindisi, Porto Marghera, Priolo and Mantova).In July 2010 also Eni Corporate obtained the OHSAS 18001 certification in addition to the ISO 14001  certification already obtained.
