Valuations of Eni by Sustainability Indexes

Eni, is the only company with E&P activities to be included in all three of the principal Sustainability Indexes. If we also include the presence on the Indexes of all three of the Group's listed companies (in addition to Eni, SnamReteGas and Saipem) to use a footballing term, we can say that we have scored a "double hat trick".
The selection questionnaire for the DJSI 2010 was different to that used previously, with the change in weightings resulting in the loss of a full point compared with last year. 
The continuous presence of Eni in the top three positions over the last three years, despite changes in the valuation criteria, is a clear demonstration of a solid sustainability strategy.

In the DJSI, Eni was in second place, behind Sasol.
If we examine in detail the performance in the three main sections of the DJSI it is possible to identify Eni's points of strength and weakness.
In three areas Eni obtained 100%. In particular, Eni is the best performer in Stakeholder engagement, Social Reporting and Payment Transparency (EITI) and recorded excellent performance levels for its Cooperation and Development Model, Corporate Governance and Code of Ethics.
Eni also achieved the absolute best performance in the environment section, with a result well above the average in the new metric of Water Related Risk. Overall, this section was worth 2 points less than last year.
Also in the section that deals with the management of people and stakeholder relations, Eni recorded a performance that was close to the highest score, and emerging as best performer in stakeholder engagement and social reporting.
Eni lost some points in the first section compared with the previous year, but achieved good results in the new criteria regarding exposure to risk.
