During the production of light oil bases, paraffins are separated from lubricating oils by cooling and filtration using rotating filters in a methylethylcetone toluene plant.
This is followed by a finishing process in a catalytic hydrofinishing plant.
The paraffins produced are consequently totally refined, in other words products that at room temperature are solid white, odourless and with a minimum of oil and clearly in conformity with current purity norms.
Agip paraffins are subsequently sent direct from the refinery in special tankers in order to ensure delivery either in a liquid form at a temperature appropriate for unloading or packaged.
Paraffins are used in a wide range of industrial activities: for candles paper and cardboard for packaging, rubber, cables and electrical conduits, and in the food, pharmaceutical and textile industries.
