Greases

When speaking about lubricants, one always thinks of oils, but in reality there are many applications where non liquid lubricants are used; among the most well-known of these products are the greases.
A grease is composed of a thickener and a lubricating oil; the thickener is used to holding the oil which, conversely, takes care of lubricating. Actually, the thickener can be seen as a "sponge" which holds the oil inside itself, letting it out only in certain circumstances which are those in which the lubrication is really needed.
The properties of grease is therefore connected to the nature and type of thickener and to that of the employed lubricant.
It is possible to have thickeners with soap bases (calcium, lithium, sodium, etc.), complex soaps (calcium, lithium, litho-calcium, aluminium, etc.) or other types (bentone, polyurea, etc.); analogously, mineral, semi-synthetics or synthetics oils can be dispersed in the thickener.
Also from a productive point of view, greases are more complex than oils in that it is not enough to mix individual components, but it is necessary to implement a sufficiently delicate productive process which also involves chemical reactions between the different components employed.
The choice of the right grease is difficult and must be done with the aid of an adeguate technical support because there are many parameters which can influence the efficiency of the products and machinery lubricated with grease.
Agip is one of the main grease manufacturer and it has a vast and articulate range able to satisfy the needs of both the industrial and automotive fields.
On this page, information about only a few of our lubricants can be found; for information about other products or for more details, it is possible to refer to Eni's R&M Division commercial structure in your geographic area.
