Eliflex

AGIP ELIFLEX are modified bitumen especially suitable to produce hot mixes with high performances in term of durability, stability and both high and low temperatures behaviour. The AGIP modification technology is based on an original patented process, that use an appropriately selected bitumen base and an elastomeric modifier of styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) type. These formulation allow to obtain hot mixes with superior features in order to respond at high performances roads requests.
AGIP ELIFLEX exists in six grades: SF, MEDIUM, HD, HE, HES, AM.

Properties
AGIP ELIFLEX bitumen have lower thermal susceptibility than traditional bitumen as shown by their high Ring and Ball temperature, and a low Fraass breaking point to guarantee a very wide plasticity range. The presence of the particular SBS polymer confers to bitumen excellent deformation resistance at high temperatures and makes it minus thermal cracking at low temperatures.
The resistance to ageing and fatigue properties of AGIP ELIFLEX bitumen allow to obtain bituminous mixes with high performance and longer useful life.
The presence of the particular SBS polymer enhances the cohesion and adhesion of the bitumen, with the effect of making the road surface more resistant.
The optimum viscosity in the range of temperatures for mixing and handling guarantees easy workability of the products.

Applications
The characteristics of AGIP ELIFLEX allow construction of road surfaces which resist the ever-increasing demands of heavy traffic over long periods. In the case of porous and splittmastix asphalt, they offer a degree of safety on wet roads better than any other paving made by traditional bitumen.
The noise reduction and draining performance of the porous asphalt prepared with AGIP ELIFLEX bitumen, allow a high reduction of acoustic pollution caused by tyre contact and increase in traffic safety because ensure vertical and horizontal drainage of water, eliminating the stagnation of surface water and the consequent problems of aquaplaning and poor visibility (cloud effect).
AGIP ELIFLEX HD, HE, HES is particularly suitable for porous and sound-absorbing and resistance to permanent deformation wears for roads, motorways and airports, subject to intense or heavy traffic or for construction works (bridges and tunnels) of special importance, under all temperature conditions.
AGIP ELIFLEX SF, MEDIUM and HD are suitable for wear-course and base-courses mixes whenever superior resistance to plastic deformation at high temperatures is required, together with a better fatigue resistance than non-modified bitumen can provide.
AGIP ELIFLEX AM grade is formulated in order to prepare high modulus wear, when good resistance to ageing and fatigue are requested.
AGIP ELIFLEX can be sprayed hot to prepare waterproofing layer under the upper layer.
