Cutting down the environmental impact of operating activities will be a crucial requisite for the survival and success for oil companies: technology plays a key role in this challenge.
The great attention dedicated to the protection of the environment involves both producing countries and major consuming ones. Oil companies operate in both contexts and are asked to make production and exploitation of fossil sources compatible with the protection of the eco systems where they operate through behaviors, attitudes and operations characterized by minimum environmental impact.
However, this effort is only the starting point of a change that will require the Energy Industry to develop technologies that can lower the polluting output of their activities to the point of neutralizing it and to make up for the damage caused to the territory in the past.
