Sales Network

Globalisation of both the purchasing and sales markets and the internationalisation of the enterprises have greatly transformed the organization of the production and distribution processes.
Transport and logistics are now considered part of customer service and as such determine the competition advantage of a business.

The competitiveness of Polimeri Europa's system is not based only on the ability to optimise transport costs, rather on the possibility of creating a logistics chain from the point of origin to the destination which is characterised by:

  • coverage of as many destinations as possible in Europe;
  • use of various modes of transport: by sea (bulk and containers), rail, road and intermodal;
  • optimisation of delivery times;
  • regularity and frequency of service.

Shortening distances, speeding up delivery

Polimeri Europa's logistics system connects the company's production network (11 sites in Italy, 2 in the UK and France, 1 each in Belgium, Germany, Portugal and Hungary) and the network of external warehouses which integrates the distribution capacity of the products with the supply of raw materials.

The fundamental element is the multimode that no longer considers the whole chain as a set of distinct segments under the responsibility of individual hauliers, but as a coordination of various services able to optimize the results of the production and distribution process as a whole.

The strengths are:

  • continuous evaluation of logistics processes and monitoring of the quality of the services rendered by suppliers with reference to the standards set by ISO 9000;
  • use of outsourcing.

The most important objective is the maintenance of the highest level of security on transport of dangerous goods with respect to Italian and international rules and regulations:

  • IMO codes and conventions, European Union Directives for maritime and land transport;
  • RID, international regulation for transport of dangerous goods by rail;
  • ADR, for transport of dangerous goods by road;
  • CSC, with reference to approval of containers;
  • IATA/ICAO, international regulation for transport by air;
  • standard Italian and local regulations.

In particular, the Minimum Safety and Operating Requirements procedure establishes minimum requirements for any and all vessels that berth at a terminal managed by Polimeri Europa.
