The additional archives fond currently contain documents from Asap, the oil company union association set up in 1957 by Enrico Mattei to deal with industrial relations with the staff of companies in the energy sector. It was Mattei who took Eni out of Confindustria (the Italian manufacturers' association) and insisted on setting up the company's own union association, at the same time refusing to join Intersind the union association for state-controlled companies. This situation remained the same until 1996 when Eni decided to put an end to the "war" with Confindustria by merging Asap with it.
The documented material amounts to 70 archive units, mainly relating to union activities for the renewal of national collective labour contracts in Eni and Group companies.
